Just returned home from a miserable camping trip.
It started off great. I was off of work for 12 days and planned to do little
to nothing. But then Katrina came...
...Katrina is a hurricane that hit the gulf of Mexico. By the time it made
its way to the Northeast, we had already had 3 days of rain. We decided to end
our vacation and come home.
The weather wasn't the only thing that made us miserable. The campground that
we go to several times a year,
Hillcrest Campground in Chichester, NH, was cutting down trees to make
room for large RVs. So first thing in the morning, you would hear a chainsaw
going to work. Not exactly peace and quiet.
This campground has really gone down hill since last year. At the end of last
season they fired everyone and hired new personell. The person that works the
front desk has absolutely no personality. The pool is in need of some
maintenance and the sites are not level and are getting rocky from erosion. Next
year, me and the wife are going to find a new campground.
One bright spot was that I got a chance to get to the
Kittery Trading Post in Kittery, ME.
This is a great outdoor store, albeit on the expensive side. But they have a
tremendous selection of gear and clothing on 3 floors. I am sure there are
cheaper alternatives online like Campmor.
